Chopped strand for reinforcements
At VISA COMPOSITES, we offer Fiberglass Chopped Strand to reinforce thermoset and thermoplastic resins. It enhances their mechanical properties and is ideal for compounding, technical plastics, electronics, and masterbatches.
Advantages of VISA COMPOSITES chopped strand
Provides increased tensile, impact, and flexural strength throughout the matrix.
The surface treatment allows for uniform distribution of the reinforcement in the resin, without agglomeration or loss of fluidity.
Available with compatible finishes for polyester (UP), vinylester (VE), epoxy (EP), polypropylene (PP), and other thermoplastic matrices.
Ideal for engineered stone systems, sanitary materials, or decorative fillers that require reinforcement without altering the surface finish.

What is chopped strand?
Chopped strand is fiberglass cut into uniform lengths (from 3.2 mm to 25.4 mm), treated with a specific “size” to ensure compatibility with different resin matrices. Thanks to its dispersible form, it easily integrates into resin matrices to provide homogeneous mechanical reinforcement and improve the structural, dimensional, and thermal resistance of the final material.
Applications of chopped strand
- Reinforcement of mortars and concrete to control cracks and improve impact resistance.
- Ideal for repair, sprayed, and precast mortars.
- Alkali-resistant fiber (AR-Glass) to ensure durability in aggressive environments.
- Structural and non-structural laminates: tanks, pipes, panels, and technical parts.
- Compatible with polyester, vinylester, and epoxy resins.
- Improves load distribution and multi-directional resistance of laminates.
- Reinforcement of plastics such as PP, PA, or PBT, improving rigidity and dimensional stability.
- Used in BMC (Bulk Molding Compounds) for molded parts with high repeatability, such as automotive components, home appliances, and machinery.
- Fiber with specific coating (sizing) to ensure good adhesion to the polymer.
- Mechanical reinforcement and reduction of breakage during transport and handling.
- Compatible with manual or mechanized composite processes.
- Chopped fiberglass filaments are incorporated into high-performance brake pad formulations.
- They improve mechanical strength, durability, and thermal resistance, ensuring safe and reliable performance in modern braking systems.
- Available in customizable lengths and specifications, adapted to the specific needs of each project.
